The Process of Renting a Dumpster

Now that you’ve identified your need for a dumpster rental, there are three simple steps that you will want to follow. The first is gathering the information you need so that we can provide you with a price quote. For example, we need to know the type of waste material you will be putting in the container (also referred to as a “debris box”), and how much material there will be. Through our brief discussion together we can help make a recommendation on the most appropriate size, and accurately estimate how many times we’ll be hauling it away from the site. (Whenever uncertainty exists with respect to the appropriate size of debris-box for your project, we usually recommended the larger size to avoid needing to rent two containers if the first turns out not to be large enough. The second step is to give some thought to specific questions you may wish to ask us to help make sure that everything goes smoothly with your project, and that you are satisfied. The third step is picking a good location where the container will be placed and properly preparing the site to make certain your project runs efficiently, and to avoid any potential damage to your property. To help you with this, we’ve listed the dimensions of our 4 different sizes of roll-off dumpsters, along with the uses for them we commonly see from our customers:

Understanding Your Dumpster Price

Now that we know the size of the roll-off container you need, it’s time to decide on the specific delivery date you require for your project, as well as the entire term of the rental of one or more debris boxes. We’ll check our inventory and make arrangements internally to reserve your container. Together, we have now gathered all of the information necessary to quote you a price!
Some companies quote prices based solely on the size of the container, while others quote prices based on the size of the container but with a weight limit included. There are other dumpster companies who will include landfill charges that they incur each time they go to the dump. At Mass dumpster rental, we feel it’s best for the customer when vendors just keep it simple, so our quotes are always based on just 2 things: The size of the container, and a “per-haul” cost each time we carry it away. In order to be as advantageous to you as possible, we reduce the per-haul price the more times we can estimate that the container will be removed.

Important Notes and Considerations

Hazardous Debris Materials

Landfills have rules about hazardous materials and other types of debris that we are prohibited from dumping. Because we don’t always know with 100% certainty what has been placed in our container, we cannot be responsible for any fines the landfill may impose, and so we must pass those costs along to the customer. Call us to discuss what types of materials are prohibited by the landfills in the Brockton and greater Plymouth county areas.

Cost Considerations

How to Fill Your Dumpster: Many dumpster rental companies in the greater Brockton area (including Whitman, East Bridgewater, Holbrook, Abington, Stoughton, Randolph, Rockland or Bridgewater) ask you not to fill their containers to more than 75% of capacity. All that we ask is that you don’t deposit debris and waste any higher than the container walls. For transport to the landfill, our drivers will need to load the unit onto a special truck and then cover it. So there you have it, a simple process of gathering the information you need to provide to the rental companies. A few questions you need to ask in addition to the standard price quote to make sure you get not only the best price but avoid any potential additional fees and penalties. And a few things you need to do to make sure that the site where the canister will be located is properly prepared to avoid doing any damage to your property.

Where to Place Your Dumpster

If you’re going to have your roll-off debris box located on your property it is best to have us place it on the firmest ground possible. Our containers are solid steel, so even when they’re empty they are quite heavy and need to be properly supported. We want to make sure that no damage of any kind to the grounds is caused. This includes soft earth that lies beneath a concrete sidewalk or asphalt driveway, and even in this case we recommend having some plywood available to place under the roll-off dumpsters wheels to help prevent any damage to your driveway or other paved areas.

Frequently Asked Questions

There are some items we cannot accept in our dumpsters. These include any items containing hazardous chemicals or other items that can cause damage to the container or landfill. If you’re unsure about an item, please give us a call and we can provide the proper guidance.
All debris and material should be placed inside the walls of the container. Do not leave anything hanging over the sides or rising above the top of the dumpster. This could delay your waste pick-up because drivers cannot haul overloaded dumpsters.
Dumpsters are measured by the number of cubic yards the container will hold. Therefore, a 10-yard dumpster will hold 10-yards of waste materials. The typical dumpster sizes are 10-yards, 20-yards, 30-yards, and 40-yards. Estimating the amount of debris a project will generate can be tricky, so give us a call and we can help you estimate the best size for your project.
The two things that have the biggest impact on the cost of renting a dumpster are your location and how much debris you need to have removed. The cost of renting a dumpster can vary by city (and respective landfill) and also by frequency of hauls. Municipalities have different fees and taxes associated with disposing of the contents of a roll-off dumpster, and the difference can be as much as 300% to 400% from one city to the next. The amount and type of debris you will be disposing of will also have a big impact on the cost. In basic terms, the more material and the heavier it is the more it’s going to cost.

About Brockton, MA

Brockton is located in Plymouth county, southeastern Massachusetts, lying 20 miles south of Boston. The lands now occupied by the city were sold by Native Americans in 1649 to Myles Standish and John Alden and became part of the Plymouth colony. The original farming community was part of the town of Bridgewater until 1821 and was called North Bridgewater until being renamed for Brockton, Ontario, Canada, in 1874. Shoe manufacturing began there as early as 1750, and by 1865, with the development of the McKay sewing machine (enabling the stitching of the uppers and soles of shoes) and the demand created by the American Civil War, Brockton had become a major boot-producing center. However, by the 1950s, shoemaking had declined in importance. The city, which was one of the first to adopt electric street lighting (1884), also pioneered in operating electric-powered streetcars and introduced a widely copied municipal system of inland sewage disposal in 1893.
